Your New VX5 ProUpdated 5 days ago

Your new VX5 Pro

Your package has just arrived and we are as excited as you are!

But before you get started, these are a few important things to consider:

Important features

1. Beast Mode: Ready for more speed? Tap the ON button five times to shift from Mode 1 (max speed of 16 mph) to Mode 2 (max speed of 19 mph). Look for a "13" on the display, then push the throttle, to toggle between modes. Then, hit the ON button another 5 times to lock in the mode you chose.

2. Eco or Sport Mode: Tap the ON button once to switch from Eco-Mode to Sport-Mode (you’ll see a white S on the display).

3. Cruise Control: Tap the ON button three times to activate Cruise-Mode for those long, relaxing rides. Want to revert? Just tap the ON button three times again. (A quick note: This does NOT set your current speed as the “cruise” speed, like it does with a car. Rather, when you have cruise mode enabled and have been at max throttle or at the same speed for several seconds in a row (about 5 seconds), then you can release the throttle and it will keep your set speed. Turn off by using brake or throttle again.)

4. Kick Start to Zero-Start: Tap the ON button four times to switch your scooter from requiring a kick to start to starting from zero with just the throttle.

Tire pressure

The tires may have lost some pressure during their time in the box. Riding with too little pressure can damage your tires or wheels if you hit a hard bump. Be sure to inflate both tires before your first ride. Depending on the driver's weight, the tire pressure should be between 3.2 and 3.8 bar (46.5 to 55 psi).

Drum brake

The scooter's mechanical drum brake must be adjusted to your weight before riding.
To do this, turn the adjustment wheel at the bottom of the brake cable either a little further up (the brake then grips more firmly) or downwards (the brake then grips more gently). Lift the wheel off the ground and spin the wheel by hand to check for excess drag after adjusting.

Regenerative brake

The VX5’s left brake lever is a dedicated regenerative brake. If the scooter has a low speed or is switched off, then there is very little to no regenerative braking force. For example, to prevent rolling on a slope, always use the right combination brake lever which controls the mechanical and regenerative brakes.

Connect with the VMAX app

Our app offers a lot of additional information about your scooter, such as the mileage of the current trip or your battery level in percentage, and lets you quickly access settings such as the driving mode, kick or zero start, and regulate the lighting. But do not worry If you do not have your cell phone with you or have lent the scooter to your friends. The app is an optional part of your scooter. The scooter will work smoothly even without your cell phone. To connect your cell phone to your scooter via Bluetooth, you need the VMAX CONNECT app for Android or iOS.

Immobilizer

You can easily activate your scooter's immobilizer using the app. Your scooter will then lock the rear wheel electrically, so you do not have to worry about the scooter simply being driven by others. However, you should only use the immobilizer if you can still keep an eye on the scooter. If you move further away from your scooter, we recommend using a sturdy lock. Using the immobilizer will slowly drain the battery, so it’s not intended for overnight use.

Kickstart or zero start

There are two approach modes for the scooter. We recommend the kick start, especially for inexperienced drivers. Here, the scooter does not start when you press the throttle, but it must roll for this to happen. In this mode, you drive as if you were driving a scooter and only press the accelerator when you are already rolling and both feet are securely on the footboard. In zero start, the scooter starts at a standstill. Since the drive comes from the rear wheel, the front wheel can rise into the air if your weight is on the back of the scooter. To switch between the two modes, you can simply go to the app's settings. Alternatively, you can change the driving mode by quickly pressing the start/stop button on your scooter four times.
