Can I mount solid rubber tires on my VMAX?Updated 5 days ago

Our e-scooters are factory-equipped with tubeless tires: air-filled tires without a separate inner tube. We’ve chosen tubeless tires because, frankly, they're the best choice for traction, ride quality and durability and have quickly become the industry standard for high-quality electric scooters.

Tubeless tires have many advantages vs solid rubber tires and semi-solid “honeycomb” tires.

1. Comfort and Suspension

Solid rubber tires do not have the ride-cushioning effect of pneumatic (air-filled) tires and cannot sufficiently absorb shocks from road irregularities. Impacts are transmitted directly to the wheels, the frame of the scooter and to the rider. This can lead to higher wear and potential long-term damage. For the rider, it leads to less riding comfort, less control over the scooter and you’ll feel more worn out at the end of a long ride.

2. Increased Stress

Our bearings and components are designed to work with the flexibility of tubeless tires. Solid rubber tires provide significantly less damping. Even variants like honeycomb tires (or hollow chamber tires) have much poorer damping compared to tubeless tires. Poorer damping over time can lead to structural damage to the rim, bearings, motor, or electronic components.

The rolling resistance can also differ from the factory condition when using different tires, which can increase the electrical load on the electronics and battery. Studies have been performed that showed scooters get longer range using air-filled tires than with solid tires. This phenomenon also occurs if you ride with too low air pressure. Therefore, always make sure to maintain the correct air pressure in your tires to avoid long-term damage, and shortened range.

3. Changed Driving Behavior

The air pressure in tubeless tires allows them to adapt to the road surface, ensuring optimal grip — even in wet or uneven conditions. Even at moderate speeds (22–25 km/h or approximately 14–16 mph), the higher stiffness of solid rubber tires negatively affects handling and cornering stability. This can lead to a less secure driving experience, especially on wet or uneven surfaces, increasing the risk of falls.

4. Warranty Claims

The scooter is designed to be used with air-filled tubeless tires. VMAX does not offer warranty coverage if the scooter is not properly maintained or if modifications, such as installing other types of tires, cause damage. Any damage or premature wear, directly or indirectly caused by installing other tires, is excluded from the warranty.

5. Tire Wear

Solid tires also wear much faster than tubeless pneumatic tires and there’s a particularly annoying kind of wear solid tires are prone to. One long skid on a solid tire can produce a flat spot in the tire causing a clunk-clunk-clunk feel as you ride which will never go away.

The short answer is therefore: No, you should not mount solid rubber tires on your VMAX if it was not factory-equipped with them.
